Cameron Ferguson

Cameron started hunting for doves around the age of 5. I was the “bird dog” for my dad and brothers. I would go fetch injured doves for them with a BB gun.

My favorite species is a tough one. I’d like to think an elk, because it’s my number one dream animal. Buffalo hunting with the African Wild Safari crew is the most fun I’ve ever had. It was a lot of adrenaline and a lot of laughs. African game is another level for challenges that are hard to beat. A rifle is my go to for big game. I respect bow hunters, their patience and the adrenaline from it, but rifles are just too effective at long range to not enjoy. I’ve hunted South Africa, South Carolina, Arkansas, North Carolina, Tennessee and California.

John Martin

Avid outdoorsman. Born and raised with Agricultural roots in South Carolina, he has a deep passion for land and wildlife conservation, and works to extend the tradition of hunting for future generations to come. Currently residing on the South Carolina coast in Charleston, SC, John Martin enjoys laid back southern living and all the wildlife it has to offer. He is an avid fisherman, white tail deer hunter, wild turkey, and wing- shooter, whose passions have taken him to numerous states and countries in pursuit of these wild game for the past 20 years. He has found a new love for plains and dangerous game hunting that South African Safaris offers, after sharing his first hunt with his late father in 2018. He wishes to carry on his father’s tradition of introducing avid hunters to Safari adventures, so that they can also experience the greatest hunting thrill of them all

Ben Jackson

Ben is a dedicated outdoorsman and conservationist living in western Kansas. He is passionate about supporting local and national hunting programs that help maintain species populations and protect habitat for wildlife. Ben enjoys returning to his childhood home of Wyoming to hunt the high country or spending time on international hunts where he explores how other cultures utilized hunting to enhance wild animal populations.

Ruan Smit

Hunting is in Ruan’s blood; a skill and passion passed down through generations. From a very young age, he joined his father on many hunts with both local and international clients. By the age of 7, he shot his first Impala. By the age of 18, he had shot over 1000 game animals. At the age of 21, Ruan became a professional hunter whereafter he went to Mozambique where he hunted dangerous game such as buffalo, hippos, crocodiles and elephants. Ruan loves the thrill of the unexpected and has never waivered during loepard, lion or rhino hunts. Ruan thoroughly enjoyed hunts in the neighbouring countries, namely Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. In 2021, he joined the African Wild Safaris team where he continues to live out his passion. Ruan is known for going the extra mile to give his clients the best experience possible.
